Kids/Teens Weekend Classes

If you are looking for a fun, yet educational extra-curricular activity for your children, consider our weekend Mandarin classes. The classes run for the entire school year on Saturday mornings and afternoons. We also have classes, running simultaneously, for parents who are interested in learning as well.
We teach children from all different age groups (TOT to teens), with different language skill levels (K-12) and cultural backgrounds (For both Mandarin-speakers and English-speakers).
A resource centre/library is available onsite to support our students.
Locations:
- North York: 211 Steeles Ave. E. (Bayview/Steeles)[Brebeuf College School]
- Mississauga: 3195 Erindale Station Rd. (Mavis/Dundas)
Class Time:
- Saturdays, morning and afternoon. Please check the specific class for details.
Class Options:
- Parent and Tot (2-3 yrs old)
- Preschool Mandarin (PK, JK, SK)
- Chinese Phonics (5-6 yrs old) – Prerequisite for Standard Mandarin
- Standard Mandarin for Mandarin-speakers(6-17 yrs old)
- Happy Mandarin for Non-Mandarin speakers(6-17 yrs old)
- Mandarin for Teens (13-17 yrs old)
- Mandarin for Parents – Same teaching time with student, available in different levels
- Creative Mandarin – Chinese Sinology class (6+ yrs old)
Early Bird Deadline:
- June 1st, every year. Registration fee waived for new student.

Our Staff
Theresa FuM.Ed, TCFL
Theresa has two Master's Degrees in Language Education (Department of Teaching Chinese as a Second/Foreign Language at Jinan University and Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning, at University of Toronto). She acquired more than three years experience teaching adults, university students and school-aged students in both China and Philippines. She is enthusiastic about exploring various teaching methods and incorporates the students’ interests, needs and abilities, into her lesson plans. As a big fan of Chinese calligraphy, painting, and paper-cutting, Theresa often introduces these traditional activities, which makes the lessons fun and interesting.
Amanda FengM.Ed, TCFL
Amanda graduated with a Master's Degree in Chinese Language and Education from Henan Normal University. She also attended Centennial College and received a certificate in ECE and Early Childhood Resource Consultant (Special Needs). Amanda is a dedicated educator with more than 20 years experience working with children. Before she moved to Canada, she was a Chinese Language and Literature teacher in the top Junior High School in Beijing, China. She is an enthusiastic and dynamic teacher who loves to engage students and inspire them to be passionate about learning.
Chloe QianM.Ed
Chloe studied Education in three different countries and has a Master's Degree in Education from University of Saskatchewan. She is very enthusiastic about teaching Mandarin as a second language, which she started teaching when she was a graduate student. Chloe is a very passionate teacher and is mastering her skills at designing individualized and group-learning programs for students of different ethnic, linguistic and cultural backgrounds. She has taught students from more than 20 different countries.
Jennifer LiB.Ed, TCFL
Jennifer graduated from Beijing International Studies University, specializing in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. She has taught Mandarin to all ages (preschool to adult) and in various formats (one-on- one, private classes to group classes). Jennifer is a dedicated teacher, always perfecting her lessons and delivery. She is energetic, friendly and enjoys getting to know her students.
Lin ChenRECE
Lin is an experienced early childcare educator with over 20 years of experience. During her 12-year career in China, Lin taught and mentored children in preparation for numerous national contests. After immigrating to Canada, she worked at various childcare centres for eight years. Lin enjoys working with children and they love her dearly. Lin believes children learn best when they are playing and engaging in creative and fun activities.
Claire ZhangRECE, BA
Claire received her Bachelor's Degree in Child Development from Seneca College in 2015. Her work placements (with various age groups) provided her with invaluable experience. She is currently working in the preschool and toddler room at JINGBAO™ Children’s Centre and as a Parent & Tot program instructor at Toronto Mandarin School. Claire values children as capable learners. She is passionate about working with and learning along with her students.
Tina WangECA
Tina worked as a kindergarten teacher for more than 20 years before immigrating to Canada. She upgraded her skills at Victoria International College, Toronto and earned a certificate after completing the Early Childhood Education Assistant program. Tina has a genuine love for children and for teaching. She especially enjoys reading stories to children.
Mary JiangECA, B.Ed
Mary worked as an elementary school teacher for more than 15 years in China and won many awards for excellence in teaching. After immigrating to Canada, she upgraded her skills as an assistant in Early Childhood Education and worked in several child care centres and educational centres before joining JINGBAO™. Mary loves working with children. Her professionalism at the centre is exemplary and she is an invaluable member of the JINGBAO™ team. Children like to call her "Teacher Mom."
Kathy LiuRECE
For many years, Kathy was an elementary school teacher in China. After moving to Canada, she attended Centennial College and graduated from the Early Childhood Education program. Kathy is a great storyteller. She loves using fun and humorous stories to engage young children in learning.
Shirley WanECA, MA
Shirley received her Bachelor's Degree in Chinese Literature while living in China. She then earned her Master's Degree in Sociology from Acadia University, Canada. Since graduating, she has been teaching elementary and preschool children Mandarin. Shirley’s education and work experiences have deepened her love of working with children.
Jun SunBA
Jun has more than 20 years of experience teaching Chinese to children of various ages groups. She demonstrates a thorough understanding of how children learn and has a strong ability to engage students, using many fun and effective teaching strategies. Jun won many awards while teaching in China.
Sophia WangRECE, B.Ed
Sophia is a certified Mandarin teacher. She worked at an elementary school for 15 years (including a stint as head of curriculum) while in China. After moving to Canada, Sophia attended Centennial College and earned an ECE Diploma. Her comprehensive understanding of child development, along with her genuine love and patience for children makes Sophia a wonderful teacher. She is passionate about nurturing young children’s personal interests and individual needs.
Sylvia SunM.Ed, TCFL
Sylvia is a certified Mandarin teacher. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Literature and received certification for teaching Chinese as a Second Language, from the well-known Beijing Language and Culture University.She also completed her Master's Degree in Education from OISE, University of Toronto. Sylvia is energetic and passionate about teaching Chinese in a western cultural context. She has taught many students of diverse backgrounds.
Gaolan OuyangB.Ed, TCFL
Gaolan is a certified Mandarin teacher from the International Society of Chinese Language Pedagogy. She also graduated from Beijing Capital Normal University in Beijing and taught Mandarin to students of diverse backgrounds for more than 12 years. Gaolan has a thorough understanding of how students learn in today’s classroom and as a result, she is willing to challenge traditional teaching methods in order to engage students and get them learning Mandarin in a fun learning environment.
Susan SuRECE,B.Ed
Susan graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Chinese Literature and Early Childhood Education from Northeast Normal University in China. For more than 20 years, she taught Chinese language in China, taking on leading positions and winning many awards for excellence in teaching. Susan is a multi-talented singer and dancer. She is also very creative, using many effective teaching strategies to make class lessons more fun.
Katherine ZhaoB.Ed
Katherine graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Beijing Normal University and has been teaching Mandarin at several elementary schools for more than 15 years. Katherine's experience with students, of different age groups and diverse backgrounds, has given her an understanding of how children learn. Katherine uses different interactive activities in her classroom to encourage students to develop their interests and achieve their own successes.
Lydia LiM.Ed
Lydia has more than 20 years experience working with children of different backgrounds. She graduated from Northeast Normal University in China, with a Master's Degree in Chinese Language and Literature Education. She was the head teacher at an international school before she moved to Canada. Lydia is a dedicated teacher, who has developed effective methods for teaching students learning Mandarin as a second language.
Jun GaoB.Ed
Jun is a dedicated, senior staff member at Toronto Mandarin School, having earned a great reputation for her calm and easy-to- understand teaching style. As a certified Mandarin teacher with over 15 years of experience in both China and Canada, Jun has developed extensive knowledge and skills in teaching Chinese language and literacy to all age groups. She won many awards for excellence in teaching while in China. Jun works with her students to identify their specific needs, while encouraging them to excel.
Lauren Fang LiuM.Ed, TCFL
Lauren obtained her Master's Degree in Education at OISE, University of Toronto. She also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Comparative Linguistics from Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU). Lauren is an energetic and fun teacher. As a foreign language teaching practitioner-researcher, she acquired knowledge of the latest theories and research findings that can assist with teaching a second language. She uses this knowledge to understand her students' learning styles and needs. She was also an editor with World Journal of Education and Journal of Curriculum and Teaching.
Preschool Mandarin (3-6 years)
