School Policy

*These policies do not apply to the programs offered at JINGBAO™ Bilingual Preschool

Payment Policy

  • Students are requested to pay the full tuition, materials fees and registration fee (where applicable) prior to the start of the program.
  • Payments may be made by personal cheque or cash.
  • A 3% additional service fee applies for payment made through PayPal. A $25 additional service fee applies for wire/bank transfer.
  • A $25 surcharge will be levied on all N.S.F. cheques.
  • If a student’s employer pays the course fees, a purchase order is required. If, three weeks after being invoiced, an employer fails to pay the cost, the student will pay for such costs within one week of notice from the school.

Placement Assessment

  • A FREE* placement assessment will be offered to all new students to ensure they will be placed in the appropriate level.
  • Toronto Mandarin School reserves the right to request that a student repeat a course if it is deemed necessary.

Waiting List

  • If a class is full, you can request to be placed on the waiting list. You will be contacted as soon as a spot has opened up.

Refund & Cancellation

  • All refund requests must state the reason and be submitted in writing to the office two weeks in advance. Refunds will be prorated(based on classes left, excluding notice period), if applicable.
  • All refund will be subject to an administration fee of $50.00. The registration fee is non-refundable.
  • A full refund (or credit) will be given to students if there are cancellations or changes initiated by the school. There are no refunds for severe weather condition cancellations.
  • A session will be cancelled if enrolment doesn’t meet the minimum student requirement. In this instance, a full refund (including the registration fee) will be issued to registered students.
  • In the event that a planned session is cancelled, TMS will offer registered students the option of transferring to another class session or receiving a full refund.

Children/Teen Weekend Class

  • Refund will be prorated, if applicable.
  • Refund will NOT be given for occasional absences.
  • Students may choose to take a TEMPORARY PAUSE if they know, IN ADVANCE, that they will miss 3 or more weeks in a row during the course period. A prorated refund for the absent period will be given as a credit toward future courses. There is no cash value for the refund.

Camp Program

  • A cancellation refund will be issued if made before the deadline (please refer to camp page for details). A $50.00 administration fee will be applied.
  • Refunds will NOT be granted for occasional absences.

Adult Program

  • Refund will be issued for cancellations made one week before sessions start. A $50.00 administration fee will be applied.
  • Refund will not be granted for cancellations made after a session has started. However, a credit can be given and used for future use (within 2 years). Please inform the office,of any changes, as soon as possible.
  • Refund or credit will not be granted for occasional absences.

Private Lesson/ Exclusive Group

  • Refund will be issued for cancellations made one week before sessions start. A $50.00 administration fee will be applied.
  • Refund will not be granted for cancellations made after a session has started. However, a credit can be given and used for future use (within 2 years). Please inform the office,of any changes, as soon as possible.
  • A 24-hour notice is required to cancel and/or reschedule the class. No refund or credit will be granted for cancellation without 24-hour notice.

Confirmation for programs

  • After registering for a program, you will receive a “Program Confirmation” by email.
  • If a session is cancelled due to insufficient numbers, we will notify students one week before the scheduled first day.

Transfer of session (class)

  • Students may transfer classes, without a penalty, if space is available.
  • It is recommended that your instructor be consulted before a transfer is requested.

Make-up Lessons

  • Individual classes are available, at an additional cost, if you need extra help before moving to the next level.

Certificate of Completion

  • Students may request a certificate of completion after successfully completing 80% of the required instructional hours.

Family Discount and Referral Bonus

  • If you are registered for a full-year Kids/Teens Weekend Program (excluding the full-time JINGBAO™ Nursery program), you will be entitled to a 10% discount for the second and third child of the family. The family registration fee is $80.
  • Our referral bonus is a $25 discount (the new student must register for a full year) to be used for future tuition fees or the current year’s fees. Referred student could get $25.00 discount at registration. There is no cash value for the referral bonus.

General Program Policies

Toronto Mandarin School reserves all rights to:

  • Change the time, location or instructor of any program or class.
  • Cancel any activity due to insufficient enrolment or instructor availability.
  • Use the “First-Come, First-Serve” policy for indivduals on a waitlist (Children’s Programs).
